Meet The Factor Monza

Meet The Factor Monza

Not long ago Factor surprised us with a fun new model, the 'Monza'. It is very similar to the Ostro, but with some minor differences, and to add to that it could be considered a value bike, coming in at right around 7k for the SRAM Force build. Lets look together.

The Monza is the new offering from the folks at Factor.

The Monza  is easily comparable to the Ostro, the differences being where the Ostro was designed for world tour riders, the Monza has been redesigned for the rest of us. Biggest difference is weight. A Monza frame (size 54) weighs in at around 1,100 grams, which is about 250 grams heavier than the Ostro.

The Monza uses a round steerer tube rather than a D-shaped steerer, which actually helps a ton with internal cable routing. This also gives us a slightly rounder head tube.

It comes with a new combobar that has been redesigned to help accomodate the cable routing path. The new bar has slightly shorter reach than the combos coming on the Ostro, which puts us into an ever so slightly more comfortable position. In that same token when the Monza has 1cm more stack, and 1/2cm less reach.  For someone like me, who is active, but not necessarily an elite racer, this makes the longer harder rides much more comfortable, as it relaxes overall positioning.

I loved getting to now the Monza, because what I figured out is that this may just be the perfect bike. The added benefit of a slightly more relaxed geometry as well as an enclosed safe environment to house our tools, tubes and small items, not to mention a price tag tight at 7k for a Force build makes it VERY appealing.

Go to our YouTube channel to see the build, and watch Cole and I discuss the finer details of the Monza.

Until next time, happy riding!
