Cannondale EVO: a sub 12 pound budget build

Cannondale EVO: a sub 12 pound budget build

Do you want to do a weight weenie project, but dont know where to start because you have to take price into consioderation? In this blog post we will look at a weight weenie bike that was built on a budget, where we utilized some already owned, but fantastic parts and walk away with some great ideas for starting a similar project of your own.

'Weight weenie', and 'budget build' are 2 terms i dont think ive heard in the same sentence. That is, until I started this project. A weight weenie build for right around 5 thousand. We WERE provided with a Cannondale EVO frameset, as well as a Zipp 202 tubular wheelset. This gave us a perfect starting point for the mission ahead.

Have a peek at this post build gallery. You may just find yourself embarking on a feather weight budget build of your own.

Cannondale EVO frameset, non AI, internally routed.

Zipp 202 Tubular wheelset.

Cane Creek EE Brakes for stopping.

Yes, Sram Red E-tap and yes, this is a rim brake edition of the groupset.

Alpitude Stelvio Out Front mount.  Pictured here is the Wahoo variety. A set of Bjōrn handlebars was the bar of choice.

KCNC Z6 Road Skewers. Lite weight, and budget friendly.

For seating we went with a MCFK Full Carbon Saddle as well as a Woodman Carbo El seatpost.

Fair Wheel Bikes V3 cage. At 7 grams this is the perfect accompaniment for a project like this.

Elilee X310 cranks. A carbon crank that is 308 grams and under four hundred dollars.

I'm not one to pick favorites, but when it comes to digital shifting i have an enormous soft spot for the Sram platform.

As always, reach out if you want help or direction with getting parts for your budget build.
