Lightest Known Aethos2

Lightest Known Aethos2

The other day we built up what is currently the worlds lightest Aethos2 here at the Fair Wheel studio. Come check it out!

Chasing weight savings, and refining the art of weight weenie bike builds is what we do best here at Fair Wheel. The other week one of out long time friends said he was ready for a new bike to ride uphill with. There are some very respectable weight weenie builds out there that claim to be the 'lightest'. We did alot of thinking and planning, and after we crossed the t's and dotted the i's we realized we could go lighter than whats currently out there. Come look at these post build shots and enjoy what is currently the lightest Aethos2 out there.

The Aethos2. A fantastic starting point for any super light road bike.

My favorite part, the Gemini Barstem combo.

The nice thing about the Gemini bars is you can choose what frame you are pairing them with and they will make the corresponding spacers to go with the frame.

Schmolke seat post, Gelu saddle and Parts Of Passion seat collar.

Fair Wheel Bikes V3 bottle cage.

The classic THM Clavicula SE crank. We used a single chainring from an Extralite Octaramp set (1x build), and we went with the Woodman chainring bolts to add a touch of color. For a chain we went with a YBN Ti chain. We cut some additional weight by tuning the pedals with a weight savings kit made by Chaser Sports, available for purchase from us.

The rear derailleur was tuned with various gold colored ti bolts, and we upgraded the pulley wheels to Extralite Ultra Pulleys.

Extralite cassette lockring.

Schmolke TLO carbon wheelset: Carbon spokes, Extralite hubs.

Brake adapter by Chaser Sports, rotors by Galfer. Hope RX brakes.

So far this might be my favorite out of all of the Aethos2's we have built recently in that it is perfect for all the uphills, has a tasteful amount of gold accents, and we finally got to incorporate a teriffic barstem combo from Gemini that I've been dying to see in person.

Being the current worlds lightest, you might ask 'how much does it weigh?'. To find out the weight and to see a full build video along with a rundown on the parts, click on the thumbnail below!

Until next time, happy riding!
