The Extralite Hyper3 MTB Freehub Body Kit replaces worn freewheel components or converts compatible HyperBoost3 and HyperSmart3 rear hubs to a supported mountain-bike cassette standard. MTB versions are available for Shimano HG 10 / 11-speed, SRAM XD, and Shimano Micro Spline.
HyperBoost3 and HyperSmart3 hubs can use either compatible Hyper3 road or MTB freehubs. Select the freehub according to the cassette standard required by the drivetrain, not the intended road or mountain use of the hub.
Hyper3 Compatibility
Hyper3 road and MTB freewheel kits are compatible only with Extralite HyperBoost3 and HyperSmart3 hubs.
They are not compatible with Hyper2 freehubs, Hyper2 floating rings, or Version 1 freehub and floating-ring assemblies.
Never mix components from different Hyper hub generations or combine used and new freewheel parts.
Micro Spline Lockring
The Shimano Micro Spline freehub kit includes the required Extralite-specific Micro Spline cog lockring.
Use the supplied lockring with the Micro Spline freehub. Standard lockrings may not provide the correct fit for this Extralite system.
Installation & Service
Inspect the hub, floating ring, springs, and related freewheel components before installation. Do not install a new Hyper3 freehub body with worn engagement parts or components from an earlier Hyper hub generation.
Use the supplied Extralite Alugrease during assembly and follow Extralite’s recommended installation and service procedures. Mixing incompatible components can cause poor engagement, accelerated wear, or freewheel failure.
Road & Previous-Generation Options
For Shimano road cassettes or SRAM XDR drivetrains, use the corresponding Extralite Hyper3 Road Freehub Body Kit. HyperBoost3 and HyperSmart3 hubs can accept either compatible road or MTB Hyper3 freehubs.
For earlier Hyper hub systems, see the Extralite Hyper2 Freehub Body Kit. Lockrings, grease, seals, and other service components are available on the Extralite Hyper Hub Small Parts page.
