Straight out of Austin Texas, Crumpton frames are designed, built, and finished by Nick Crumpton himself, making every frame a fully custom labor of love. Have a look at this Sub 12lb disc brake road bike we just built...

At Fair Wheel we are big fans of Crumpton bikes. We have the pleasure of getting to see and work on many, and in the past few years they have become a personal favorite for me. The level of detail and craftsmanship is nothing short of impressive.
This build is just as special as all the builds we put together here, but in my opinion this one is especially bragworthy. A few years ago when disc brakes became the norm on road bikes many of us foolishly thought 'this must be the end of weight weenie bike builds'. Well, I am glad to announce that despite what you may have thought, disc brake bikes are weight weenie bikes too.
Have a quick look at this Sub 12lb Crumpton...
We went with an MCFK Aero Bar with an Extralite HyperStem stem up front to help keep the front aero and lite.
For a seating we went full carbon with an MCFK Open Full Carbon Saddle mounted to a Bjorn Glagol seatpost.
Seeing as how Nick personally builds each frame by hand, getting this one involved a few months of waiting. That gave us plenty of time to consider all of our possibilities for parts and get excited.
As always with the lite builds the Fair Wheel V3 cage. This rider chose to only go with one cage.
Extralite Hyperspacer's, because they look so dang good with the stem...
We used the Fair Wheel Bikes SLR3 Cassette. We find that you can save upwards or 70 to 80 grams when you compare this to other common cassettes.
This seat collar is actually an oldie but goodie that we had kicking around the shop from years ago. I present to you, the Parts Of Passion seat collar.
THM Clavicula SE cranks with Praxis chainrings.
Finished weight came out to 11.8lbs (5.35 Kilos) which is even a touch lighter than we originally planned for, and on a disc brake bike!
Until next time, happy riding!
