KMC X12 12 Speed Chain

With the introduction of their line of 12-speed chains, KMC now offers excellent chain options for this emerging market. With an actual weight of a very respectable 269 grams (Uncut/126 links and Missinglink connector), the X12 weight is on par with many other manufacturers higher end 12-speed chains. DLC

The DLC Series chains are coated with a titanium-carbon-nitrade coating creating an extremely hard surface and therefore reduced friction. This results in a smooth running, optimum shifting behavior and, due to the extreme hardness of the pins, an above-average service life of the entire drivetrain.

SILVER

The X12 Silver 12-speed chain exhibits KMC's ability to design a value conscious component that retains many of the technological advances of their top-tier chains. Each outer plate features KMC’s X-Bridge technology, a special plate design that aids in smooth, fast, and precise shifting. Both inner and outer plates feature chamfered edges which improve both shift performance and chain articulation. Beyond performance features, KMC’s mushroomed riveting technology increases pin strength resulting in a stronger chain. The X12 Silver also features a nickel plated finish which boosts both wear and corrosion resistance.

X12 Ti-N GOLD

With the Ti-N Gold version of their X12 chain line, KMC retains the performance technologies and low weight of the X12 Silver. The main difference between the two chains is the coating; this chain forgoes the nickel plated coating of the silver version for a more advanced gold titanium nitride coating. Titanium nitride is an extremely hard ceramic material that is applied as a thin coating that both hardens and protects the sliding surfaces of the chain. While this bumps the pricing up from the X12 silver, the extra cost is justified as the advanced coating process further improves both performance and durability.

Our "waxed" chain option offers a unique approach to maintaining your brand new chain. This option involves a multi-step process that ensures your chain is well-prepared before use; cleaning, drying, waxing, curing and inspection.
